Innovative products and services may take a company to the top, but it will only stay there because of the way it is led.  Leadership has become the key competitive advantage in today’s corporate environment.

With a workforce composed primarily of knowledge workers, your most important assets walk out the door each evening.  If you are going to attract and keep this most important asset, then the quality of your leaders at every level of the business becomes a critical driver of business success.

"…a majority of people leave their manager - not their company"... Gallup survey of 80,000 employees

The ultimate measure of leadership is its effect on people to be more productive and fulfilled than they would have otherwise imagined, taking ownership of their work and their lives.  leadership worldwide provides the tools, insights, experiences and knowledge for leaders at all levels of your business to thrive.

What we do

leadership worldwide offers a range of development opportunities for individuals, teams and entire organisations to tap into the full potential of their people.  We believe that the best way to attract and retain your talent is to stimulate challenge and support your people to grow.  We do this via…

Training
– be it via in-house workshops, conference sessions, keynote presentations from leading speakers, academics and high achievers from all walks of life, or high impact challenge activities, we can tailor a program that addresses your challenges and desired outcomes. Conference programs
– we provide a range of workshops, activities and programs tailored specifically for delivery at your conference or corporate retreat.

Organisation wide Assessment – for those that are serious about creating the impetus for massive change within the organisation, we can provide a full solution based upon individual, team and organisational Values and Behaviour Assessment.  These organisation wide survey processes provide the foundation for aligning individual and corporate vision, values and behaviour, providing the data for measurement based interventions at all levels of the business.

Consulting
– we provide a range of consulting services to assist organisations in developing their own systems for leadership identification, development and retention.  We can design and implement recruitment systems, talent pools, and development processes for companies of any size or complexity.

How we do it

At leadership worldwide we promise custom solutions, innovation, energy and change.  We combine our talented and committed people, insightful diagnostic tools, and effective implementation systems with your passion for the growth and success of your business to ensure excellent business outcomes.

All client interventions start with a detailed consultation to understand client expectations and desired outcomes.  Ideally, this will involve some kind of initial measurement and assessment of current state, so that fact based interventions can be designed and delivered with measurable results.

In this extract, author and Leadershp WorldWide’s Managing Partner Darryl Blake explores the importance of determining your vision and values as a leader with Flight Centre founder and MD, Graham ‘Skroo’ Turner.

DECIDING WHO YOU ARE AND WHAT YOU STAND FOR...Vision, Values and Leadership

Talk of visions and values, philosophies and culture, are enough to make even the most committed managers cringe, and the average corporate employee tune out immediately.  Yet they are also one of the most important set of factors in corporate success.  So why the 'cringe factor'?  Maybe it is because values and philosophy statements have become just another one of those 'must be seen to be doing' type of activities.  Or perhaps because they are usually a product of some cosy corporate retreat by the management team and used as a convenient poster to hide marks on the canteen wall.  Or worst of all, perhaps the cynicism around values and philosophies is due to management who set such values, and then refuse to either demonstrate or enforce such values through their own behaviours.

… we teach those behaviours which we use and allow to be used around us.

An inalienable truth of life and business is that we teach those values and behaviours which we use and allow to be used around us.  When a manager allows a subordinate to be rude to staff, she teaches those who witness such behaviours that rudeness is acceptable around here.  She also teaches a debilitating lesson - that vision and values statements are meaningless in our business.

So why is a meaningful vison, values and or philosophies so important?  Because when they capture the imagination of the individual, when they inspire and ignite action, and when they address the human condition in a meaningful way - they form a conduit which engages the hearts and minds of those within the organisation.  Where would you like to work? Who would you like to do business with?  Which force do you think would be one to truly reckon with?  The organisation where people come in every day to give 'a fair days work for a fair days pay', or one where the people, in Skroo's words, "feel genuine ownership of that business".  Indeed, as he continues "...nothing could be more powerful than an organisation of be it a thousand or 20,000, where each one of those 20,000 genuinely believed they owned the seat they were sitting at, and took full responsibility for their own and the organisation's success."  Imagine what a competitor would have to do to beat a business like that!  Imagine the energy and drive, the passion and purpose that would be a part of working within such an organisation.
